Small Steps to Create Big Change

Celebrating another year of service

SMALL STEPs TO CREATE BIG CHANGE

In light of all the hard things we are trying to tackle over the last year, Covid-19, staying connected to loved ones, employment, mental and physical health - housing is certainly at the top of the list of challenges. While Girls Giving Back doesn’t run shelter they have played a critical role in maintaining and raising the bar within shelters across the Puget Sound.

In celebration of Girls Giving Backs 11 anniversary, we asked Girls Giving Back founder Teresa Valley about how she is feeling about another serving the community and this is what she had to say.

“I am so grateful to have been able to support our shelter community for the past 11 years. In that process we have built strong partnerships, with our local shelter leadership and their residents, that continues to educate and deliver compassionate change for the shelters, their programs and for the people within them.

Over the years I deepen my commitment to big picture goal - to change the standard of care in our community shelters.

Girls Giving Back (GGB) was created as a means to give back, to nurture the mother and daughter to connection and be connected to our larger community network. It has been an gift to lead. To be a voice and support system for those asking for help, quite often the voiceless in our systems. To lead by our actions with compassion for the process of change not just the end results, taking small steps to create big change.

For this year my hope is that we all find our spark to create change in this world!”

With gratitude,
Teresa Valley
